How to Choose and Use Padded Furniture Moving Blankets?

1. Choosing the Right Blanket Weight

Recommended Weights and Uses

3 lbs: Local residential moves

4 lbs: Furniture delivery

5 lbs: General commercial moving

6 lbs: Long-distance transport

7 lbs: Heavy furniture and industrial equipment

We do not offer just one standard specification; instead, we manufacture moving blankets in various weights to meet the demands of different markets.

2. Practical Tips for Better Furniture Protection

Professional moving companies often employ simple techniques that are highly effective at protecting furniture.

Separating Stacked Items

When loading trucks or containers, place padded furniture moving blankets between stacked furniture or appliances to minimize friction and pressure during transit.

Wrapping Instead of Just Covering

Do not simply drape the blanket over the furniture; instead, completely wrap the exposed surfaces and secure the blanket with moving straps or stretch wrap. This prevents the blanket from shifting during transport.

Protecting Contact Points

Furniture corners, table edges, and cabinet doors are the areas most prone to damage. Adding a layer of folded padding at these contact points provides extra protection exactly where it is needed most.

Use on Vehicle Floors

Blankets can also be placed underneath furniture to reduce vibration and prevent the furniture from shifting while the vehicle is in motion.

3. Extending the Lifespan of Moving Blankets

Moving blankets are reusable items. To maximize their lifespan:

If a blanket gets wet, allow it to dry completely before storing it.

Rotate the use of frequently used blankets with newer ones to ensure even wear.

Replace damaged blankets before split seams unravel further.

Avoid dragging blankets directly across rough concrete surfaces.

Fold the blankets rather than keeping them tightly compressed for extended periods.

Following these simple maintenance tips helps reduce replacement costs in the long run.
